KFW TRAINING
At Klapmuts Farm Watch we believe in empowering our members. One of the tools for empowerment is knowledge. We aim to teach our members skills by hosting training sessions and courses.
When arriving on an accident scene many things need to be done. The worst thing to do is nothing. Even if you are not trained to medically assist patients there is so much that you can do, starting by informing the applicable authorities such as the ambulance, the traffic department, law enforcement and\or the police.
However, when it comes to helping the patients as best as possible, training is beneficial. In the past we have organised CPR, stop-the-bleed, bleeding control, basic life support and first aid levels 1-3 training.
- CPR is a long know technique that has saved many lives. Chest compressions are a way of circulating the patient’s blood through their body.
- Stop-the-bleed, bleeding control and basic life support all encompass the treatment of servery bleeding patients. The aim is to teach you how to stop the bleeding by covering the wounds adequately until professionals arrive at the scene.
- First aid training covers a wide variety of injuries and diseases. The knowledge obtained in these courses is not only beneficial on accident scenes but also in our daily lives such as the workplace or at home with your family.
Other courses that the farm watch has organised in the past include basic self-defence and basic firefighting.
- Basic firefighting – fires often occur unexpectedly in these situations it is import to react both correctly and fast.
- Self-defence – it is always important to know to defend yourself, should you ever be placed in a situation in which you are attacked.
